The only dynasty ruled by the Jats, peasants 'sons of the soil', rather than the Rajputs, is today the most well known for its bird sanctuary at the Keoladeo National Park, finest in Asia with a rich avian variety. The marvelous Bharatpur Palace houses a rich repository of large number of ancient exhibits.

Lohagarh fort
Raja Suraj Mal Jat, the founder of Bharatpur and only Jat ruler in Rajasthan, built the massive iron fort in 18th century. The fort occupies the small artificial island in the center of the town, with it three palaces Kishori Mahal, Mahal Khas and Kothi Khas.

Keoladeo Ghana National Park
Rare species of birdsOne of the finest bird sanctuaries in the world is the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. Once a shooting reserve for the Royal family of Bharatpur, now offers great sight of the rarest of birds and faunal species as well.

Over 120 species of birds nest at Keoladeo, and the heronry is believed to be the best in the world. Several more species are migratory visitors, journeying to the park in winters from distance as far as Siberia. The most famous of these winter migrants is the greatly endangered Siberian Crane. The park is also noted for its mammalian and reptilian wildlife like deer, mongoose, jackals, foxes, hyena, rock pythons, leopards jungle cats and fishing cats.

Deeg
The town of Deeg is strewn with massive fortifications, stunningly beautiful gardens, magnificent palaces and the colorful bazaars.

Created in pale yellow sandstone and set around the large, formal gardens, these palaces and the fort are architectural masterpieces due to their beauty and symmetry.
