Dilwara Jain Temples

Mount Abu
A pleasant retreat set amidst the lush forested hills, Mt Abu is a green oasis in the barren desert of Rajasthan. Situated at the southern tip of the Aravali range, this hill retreat owes its cool climate to the rich flora covering the entire hillside. It is known for the many spiritual learning centers that dot the place and the colorful Garasia tribe, inhabiting the surrounding regions that are especially interesting.

Places to visit
Nakki Lake
A tiny lake is picturesquely set, virtually, at the heart of Mt. Abu. This lake is dotted with several islets approachable by boat. Toad rock, amongst the many strange rock formations, looks like a toad, about to jump into the lake.

Dilwara temples are known for the quality of their marble carvingsDilwara Jain Temples
Carvings bring alive the white marble used for the simply stunning temple of Dilwara. The artistic work by the craftsmen seems to have gone beyond all boundaries of reason, where you will find yourself helplessly staring at the carvings, unable to take your eyes off.

The central shrine has an image of Rishabhdev and large courtyard with 52 small shrines and 48 elegantly carved pillars from the entrance to the courtyards and the carving on each of the pillars differs from each one. If the carvings of Dilwara temples have anything comparable it is handiwork at the Jain temples in Ranakpur.
