A retreat in the wilds. Jogi Mahal at Ranthambor Park

Ranthambor
The landscape of Ranthambor, is dominated by the Vindhyan hill range, with its steep escarpments. The ancient sedimentary limestone and sand stone rocks, perennial lakes and dry deciduous vegetation are the part of its indicative topography. The fort in the background, indicates the royal presence, but abandoned for centuries. The only majesty here is the Tiger. Once a hunting ground for the Maharaja's of Jaipur, now a tiger reserve.

Ranthambor National Park
The majestic Ranthambor TigerThe park is famous and noted for its tigers, which are usually nocturnal, but frequently seen during the day. The majestic animal, here, can be seen at the close quarters, either strolling or stalking its prey. The tigers are not the only predators at Ranthambor, though it is the most famous one. Leopards live in the higher vegetation, while its lakes are infested with marsh crocodiles. There is wildlife abound with other species like jungle cats, jackals, hyenas and sloth beers. Among foraging animals are deer, nilgai, chinkara, wild boar and monitor lizard.

In the attention one pays to the tiger, it is easy to get distracted from the bird life attracted to the park because of its antique habitat. The landscape with its lakes, vegetation, the second- largest Banyan tree in the country, the occasional palace or building, make it one of the most picturesque park in the country.
